Pattern
Pattern is a gift wrapping paper design based on traditional Chinese motifs. Abstract graphics taken from flame, fish and bat forms are combined to shape the head of a dragon. The dragon motif is repeated with vertical and horizontal squares to form a continuous pattern. The paper is produced with four-color printing on high-density special paper. The design is also applied to product packaging, printed promotional materials and carton design. The intent is to join traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern design.
Pattern Gift Paper by Huo Kai has been featured as an exceptional representation of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Pattern Gift Paper received the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2023. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize that celebrates outstanding design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
